The cake was gorgeous, and absolutely delicious! My whole family agreed it was the best tasting birthday cake we'd ever had. My daughter chose yellow cake with buttercream icing, but there are many flavors and combinations to chose from. This is my go to bakery for any special occasion.

My father-in-law brought a devil's food cake with buttercream frosting out to us in Western Maryland for my wife's birthday. Fortunately, he brought a small cake and took some home or I'd still be eating off it like a rabid animal. This is the best cake I've ever had and henceforth will compare all other cakes before me to Rita's.

Mixed review but the cheese cake is absolutely 5 stars or more. First, it was $23 for a small cheese cake, about 8 slices. The cake was one of the very best I have ever tasted. I bought this for a birthday and the choice of toppings is limited to two. Neither of which I wanted, still $23 though. There is no handcapped ramp and a patron could not get in while I visited. I ended up paying for his snacks because I felt sorry for him. I forgot to pick up my special order. They communicated well and notified me, even waited after hours. So on the bad side, limited choices and out of code building. On the good side, great product and service. In total I would recommend this establishment. Even at the higher prices, because I would rather part with money and be satisfied then have money and be wanting.

I've stopped in here a few times to pick up a slice of the "lemon lust". I became addicted after my first visit. It's sooo good. (I have not been back for that though - I was telling an aunt about it and she happened to have an old family recipe that is "lemon lust" EXACTLY - now I make my own). I recently ordered a cake for a friend's birthday party. They made a very beautiful cake on very short notice. I thought that the cake was delicious, but party guests complained that it was "too sweet", which I don't get. I mean, come on - it's cake!

I loved working with Cindy at the Desserts by Rita location in Havre de Grace for my September 2013 wedding at the Vandiver Inn (this review is inexcusably late!) From the get-go my experience was wonderful. The tasting was lots of fun and Cindy helped me work through my ideas to figure out what I wanted as far as design was concerned. I came into the process without having a good idea of what I wanted the cake to look like. While talking to Cindy at the tasting she noticed my ring, and complimented its unique 1920's era design (lots of filigree.) She mentioned that she could design the cake to look like my ring and at that point I was sold. I sent her a picture of my ring and she was able to take the design and execute it perfectly onto the cake (oh how I wish I could upload a picture!) The cake was gorgeous and perfect for the theme and venue. Not only that, but it was absolutely delicious. My husband and I saved the top to eat on our one-year anniversary and it's really all I've been thinking about for the past year! Thank you, Cindy and the Desserts by Rita team for all of your hard work and a beautiful and memorable wedding cake.

Desserts by Rita has been the provider of my family's cakes for the past two years. Ever since experiencing their cakes, I haven't used any other bakery and I live an hour away. To some taste buds the cake may be too sweet but I have never gotten any complaints from my guests. The cake is moist and just right. The Rita's Delight is delicious! Also, the cake decorating is fantastic. You can never go wrong with the basic flavors, yellow, lemon, and devils. The cakes are reasonably priced. I would recommend this bakery to anyone.

Rita's made our wedding cake. It was amazing (one of the top two we tasted of ) local-ish shops) and was a little over HALF the price of their competition. We had several people at the reception ask after who we used. Many others complimented us on the cake and the frosting. In my opinion, they have the best buttercream out there. It was just sweet enough to compliment the cake. We had white cake w/orange buttercream, almond w/almond buttercream, and chocolate w/hazelnut buttercream. The cake design was amazing too. We chose to have a texture with branches and fruit. It looked flawless.

OK, so all I have to say is that when I get married, I want a Rita's Delight cake. Come to think of it, ANY CELEBRATION, I want a Rita's Delight cake. I grew up visiting my grandparents on the eastern shore of MD & anytime we went to Watermen's in Salisbury, I could always count on leaving room for dessert. This is my favorite specialty cake off all time. Give me a Rita's wedding cake & a red velvet groom's cake & I could care less about any other of the bridal bs.

The best cake in town! If you are looking for a cake, this is the place to go. We always order our cakes from Rita and they are soooo so good. She even makes a chocolate gluten free cake that's fabulous! Rita also offers cake by the slice, great idea if a whole cake is too much or will wreck your diet, just get 1 piece... such a good idea!
